Responsible for daily operations of 37+ bed urban tertiary care emergency department with 75, 000 patient visits per year and direct reporting manager for approximately 150 employees in a multi-union environment;

Hiring of Registered nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Care Aids, Unit Clerks, and Unit Attendants to meet operational best practice guidelines for the emergency department;

Annual performance appraisals, scheduling, attendance management, disciplinary management in collaboration with human resources;

Maintaining access and flow of patients presenting to the ED

Ordering and inventory of department supplies; 

Knowledge of multi-union collective agreements (UNA, AUPE, CUPE); 

Providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team;

 

Performing Occupational Health & Safety investigations related to employee injuries, maintaining current hazard assessments for all employee designations, performing quarterly workplace inspections in compliance with OHS legislation
